Ever wondered what it takes to become a licensed cannabis shop and lounge? The process involves lots of rules and regulations to abide by! In 2018, the state of Michigan legalized the use of cannabis for both medicinal and recreational purposes. As a result, shops like ours have a responsibility to ensure that all products available for purchase are 100% safe for consumption. This has led to the extensive testing and regulation of all retail cannabis products in the state – including those we sell here.
The Michigan Cannabis Regulatory Agency (CRA) is responsible for ensuring that any cannabis products available are up to standard. The agency has put in place regulations that require all cannabis products to be tested before they are sold to consumers. The testing is done to ensure that the products are free from harmful contaminants such as pesticides, heavy metals, and bacteria.
The CRA has licensed several laboratories in the state to test cannabis products. These laboratories use state-of-the-art equipment to test all products for potency and possible contaminants. The testing process is rigorous and ensures that only safe products are placed in retail spaces.
You know the cool packaging designs that a lot of cannabis products have? The CRA even regulates that – the packaging and labeling of cannabis products. All items must be labeled with the name of the product, the exact type of cannabis used, its potency, and the name and contact information of its manufacturer. The packaging must also be child-proof and tamper-resistant.
Rolling Embers is proud to be located on Pokagon Band territory, which means we are licensed by the Cannabis Regulatory Commission (CRC). The CRC and the CRA follow similar standards for cannabis products – as such, in all cases Rolling Embers meets or exceeds the CRA’s regulations and safety concerns. Our community’s safety is our highest priority, so we will never sell unregulated or untested products to customers. If you have any questions about our products or the regulations we follow, please don’t hesitate to reach out!
